Dirty Stinkin' Commies! (And Other Improprieties)

So it has come down to it at last. The final nail in the coffin. The ending waltz on the dance floor. The last Pringle in the can. Or something. Either way, we have sworn in another president, we have upheld our particularly American brand of Democracy, and we are all certainly awaiting every politician to be taken into custody, executed, and then for Trump to rule forever. Q just has to be correct right? The track record is.... stunning? Pictured: Q at his computer, or something. Creator: Rembrandt  |  Credit: Hermitage     Either way, our country has reached the dawning of a new administration. An event that has happened 45 previous times, and will undoubtedly happen many many more. But along the way, there was a bit of... discourse, if you could call it that. Most of it was spurned on by the greatest of all threats in this day and age, the Keyboard Warriors. Yes, this multi-class, 12th level, 5h Edition DnD champion has, for the last 5-6 ye...

Treatise on the End of the Human Race

The year is 2592, and the last of humanity has just died. She didn’t have a name. She didn’t have a place of residence. Long had humanity abandoned sedentary living places after the cataclysms that befell them. She died at the ripe old age of 43. Old for the time at least. In the past century, many barely made it to 30. She had no language; coherent words being of little use with no one to speak to. She was alone on a quiet world, devoid of almost all complex life or vegetation, scrapping by on what little food and water she could manage to obtain. Her mate had passed on nearly 2 years ago, but she had little concept of years. She knew that it was man moon cycles, and that he had gone in his sleep, never to wake up. She had no concept of an afterlife. For her, there were only two states; here, and gone. As she ventured through the desolate wastelands of which we used to roam, she regarded things she saw, but had no concept of. Ol...

"In Their Language, Arrows Mean Hello."

So this topic may be considered insensitive, but hear me out until the end before lighting the tiki torches. (ed note: I'm allergic to fire) Aren't tiki torches racist now? Is this worse?  A couple weeks ago, a would be missionary named John Chau set out on a pilgrimage to the North Sentinel Island in the Bay of Bengal , in the Indian Ocean . He was attempting to contact the tribe to spread Christianity, and, ostensibly, convert them to followers and members of modern society. Upon arriving, he was shot at with several warning arrows and forced to leave, however, he returned later on in the week, and was no longer warned, being killed with multiple arrows on the spot. Now, I feel I don't have to tell anyone of the dire ramifications of trying to march up to people currently shooting arrows at you, but nonetheless, he did, and is no longer living due to this action. While it may sound cold, the further problems with this story will reveal why exactly I, as well as ...

State of Our Disunion

.... And in summation, that's how you fix all of our political and humanitarian issues. Thank you for reading for the past 2 months. This series has been a big one. Twelve blog posts. Just amazing what steady viewership and dedication will brin- .... (ed note: What do you mean they haven't been posting? What do you mean they haven't even been SAVING?! YOU MEAN I HAVEN'T BEEN ACTIVE HERE FOR 2 MONTHS?!?! MOTHE@$@^&@^@*()$)*(!^(97278^&!*(@!!!!) Well... this is awkward. It seems that my creative juices needed a pick me up. Yeah. That's what I'll go with. Lets get onto the post. It's about one of my favorite topics: sadness and misery in the world! Yaaaay! ... I need a drink.... 52 Shirley Temples later. So for those who have been living under a rock, or at least have the better sense to not listen to ANY news nowadays, a several thousand people strong caravan of refugees and immigrants has slowly been making its way across Central American ...

I'm not Racist! I love [INSERT MINORITY HERE]

Today I want to talk about a certain group of people. These people, they are just the worst. They don't care about what happens to the others groups around them. They always try to impose their ways unto others. They dress weird, act weird and have such strange "fun" activities and past-times. I really can't see how anyone can stand them at all. And their food is so disgusting! And the worst part of it all? They always move into a neighborhood and it change it to suit their needs. I mean, I used to know this great place, and it got changed completely to suit the new demographics. I just can't stand them. What? I haven't mentioned who it is I'm talking about? Well, its obvious isn't it? Why? Who're YOU thinking about? Damn illegals. Racism, like stupidity, knows no color. Any group of people can be racist against another. That's a simple fact. And it's further illustrated by our thoughts. Such as this; who exactly did you think...

The New Mythologies - Part 4: Gods and Dollar Signs

So here we are. This. Is. It. We've gone from Greek Gods, to The Golden Age of Superheroes, to the Nineties Anti-Hero Age. And now we've come to the current era. The era that I feel is a defining point in our culture, for better or worse. This is the Age of the Cinematic Universes. Simply put, the superheroes we idolize today come in a mush bigger package than they used to. Gone are the days of rushing down to the nearest corner store to pick up the latest comics. Sure, the comics themselves are still around, but our heroes predominantly grace the big screen now. Officially starting off in 2008 with the release of Iron Man , the Marvel Cinematic Universe , or MCU for short, has recently become the highest grossing film franchise in history, eclipsing such powerhouses as James Bond , Harry Potter , and Star Wars . These films, which have collectively grossed over $17 Billion , are forces to be reckoned with. Entire studio schedules have been altered to accommodate their...

The New Mythologies - Part 3: I Cut Myself on all this Edge

"Darkness. Apathy. Rage. Penance. This is my world. All those whom tread my path will know my suffering. I shall inflict upon evil what evil has inflicted upon me. No more Mr. Niceguy. I will become a paragon of the blade of justice. I shall break upon my foes the same pains that weigh me down. Never again shall those who I fight for fear the night. For I am the night. I am John-Paul Valley, and I am Batman. I shall strike fear upon the wicked. And they will learn to fear my unholy visage... " OH GOD! BURN IT! BURN IT!!! The 90's were... an interesting time. Fashion went out the window. Slang was denser and wackier than ever. Television and music was either total nonsense, or completely serious and adult, with little in between. And comics.... oh sweet comics. This was a dark time indeed. What you see above, is the 90's re-imagining of Batman . Yes, I will apologize on behalf of DC . While this unholy abomination was bad, it was BY FAR not the worst i...

The New Mythologies - Part 2: Age of the Superhero

So, quick recap of the last part: Zeus = Bad God? Hades = Good God? Hercules = Misguided Demigod? Disney = Greedy People Society = Doomed Alright, now that we got that out of the way, SUPERHEROES ! That's right. Today we will be discussing what I strongly believe are our new mythologies, superheroes. Now, some context. I am fully aware that none of these characters has ever been worshiped or had patronage in real life towards them. For the most part at least. But, the simple fact that many have been used to explore complex and detailed emotions and problems that face our society warrants our examining. Many people look up to these fictional heroes because they embody principles and ideals that we ourselves wish to strive for. Many times we find ourselves wondering how these characters would solve a problem or obstacle before we ever think about what real role models would do. This is why these characters are so important to our society as it is today. The fact that many of ...
